GEM Lab at La Nuit des Idées – The Night of Ideas 2019

On January 31st, 2019, the event “La Nuit des Idées Halifax” run by The Consulate General of France in the Atlantic Provinces, and by L’Alliance Française Halifax took place at The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, this is the first time the event takes place in Halifax. The event consists of celebrating ideas between different disciplines, cultures, topics and generations.

GEM Lab proudly participated in this event, led by Dr. Joseph Malloch and Juliano Franz. The designated project that the Lab presented was The Halifax Explosion Exhibit, the variant presented at La Nuit des Idées used projectors facing the ground to project the map. Additionally, a simulation of the live feed of ships in the port was implemented, to further improve the immersion. The simulation was implemented using the AIS System.
